After having to cancel his first Avid shoot due to illness, Dean Macey was buzzing to finally get the new Retracts out on the bank! Here’s what he had to say about the session…
"It wasn’t plain sailing at first, with the fish moving off as soon as the rigs went in. The first 24 hours were a blank, but a lap of the lake revealed most of the carp stacked up in super shallow water against a no-fishing bank. A little bit of bait in a few key areas, and within the hour, they were feeding hard!
A quick move and a borrowed boat later, I got two rigs positioned bang on the money. The first bite took a little longer than expected, but it was well worth the wait—a stunning 32lb zip linear! That was followed by a quick stockie before nightfall.
By morning, I knew exactly where they’d be, so I got the traps set early. Less than an hour after the sun hit the bank, I saw them moving in… then came the final bite. A proper battle that had me scrambling down the bank! It didn’t look big in the water, but once on the mat, it just kept getting bigger… 39lb of solid, pristine common!
The wait was worth it, and I’ve got to say—the new Retracts were EPIC! Hopefully, the lucky streak continues!
