Lewis's 'Nora' Rig

Don’t know what to make of this, has tangle written all over it for us. What are yourt thoughts?

  • “The rig that nabbed the Engie Leather, showing how the loop of Duofleck sits when attached on a PTFE Quick Link Swivel thanks to the Crook Beads, allowing the two elements to naturally separate. This small detail is really important…

  • I always tie Nora’d rigs up with 25lb Duofleck. When it is pulled tight it holds enough rigidity to remain tangle free, and then it relaxes when immersed

  • The Slip D is tied, rather than multi-rig style on a loop, as I didn’t want the hook to be pulled tight to the hook bait whilst playing a fish.

  • Whilst the medium Noodle Kicker is a tight fit I much prefer that size for neatness and how securely it sits on the hook eye. The hooking mechanics are superb and I don’t have to faf around with shrink as they are already the perfect shape…

  • Next I slid a Hook Ring Swivel down the hook link.

  • This is followed by a Tungsten Dropper slid down the Duofleck…

  • Whilst I used to use ‘crab elastic, and then standard marker elastic I’ve found this No.1 0.37mm black pole elastic that I use for the elastic portion –the elasticity and colour are perfect.

  • I tied a small figure of 8 loop in the end of the elastic (about 3mm diameter) and cut it off a couple of inches longer than I think I’Il need on the finished rig.

  • Then It’s simply a case of tying it onto the Hook Ring swivel as shown using a 3-turn Grinner, carefully tightening it down until it locks and cut the knot tag off flush.

  • The length of the elastic should be about half the length of the distance from the end of the hook link to the tungsten dropper (measured from the lead end). Normally I use about 2 ½ - 3 inches of elastic, depending upon the total length of the hook link.

  • I always use Crook Beads for holding hook links in place on the Quick Link Swivel whatever rig I’m using, as anti-tangle sleeves restrict the movement of hook links and cause tangles on in my humble opinion

  • Next, I carefully pull both the loops on the hook link and the elastic through the Crook Bead ready to mount them on the Quick Link Swivel. You can see how when in position they naturally push away from each other, mitigating tangles.

Why is everyone trying to reinvent the wheel. Whats wrong with a simple bloody hair rig. Fact is nothing but it doesn’t make money for the tackle companies
